Exquisite Cantonese in a lavish space

HELMED BY two talented culinary masters, Chef Fei and Chef Loy, Li Feng offers a delectable balance between traditional dishes and creative renditions of classics. Fei, one of China’s most notable young chefs, is also behind the celebrated Jiang at Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou. Chef Loy is the Executive Chinese Chef at Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta and brings more than 12 years of experience in fine dining at various destinations including Bali and Dubai to the refined atmosphere of Li Feng. Designed by Hong Kong-based LRF Designers, the interior is inspired by the ocean-going junks that plied the
seas between southern China, the Spice Islands and Arabia. The junk connection has been incorporated into glass art, paintings and sculptural ceiling lights that form a stylized “sea” of hand-made crystal glass, with amber crystalsails. The menu features Cantonese specialties such as the ethereally presented Deep-Fried Swan Dumpling with Black Pepper Duck Meat, Crispy Fish Skin with Salted Egg, Beggar’s Chicken, Baked Crab Shell (which comes on a plate signed by the chef) and Seared Xisha Island Crayfish with Garlic Sauce and Braised Hele Crab with Japanese Rice in Hoisin Sauce.(jd)
