A feast for both the eyes and the soul
HOUSED IN an industrial warehouse, the space is decorated with marble top mahjong tables and oversized leather chesterfields, while old-style photographs are hung on the walls. Mama San’s painting graces the far, staring down at patrons while dining. Two staircases on both sides of a service bar lead to the second level where the team of chefs engage diners on their food and drinks preferences. Executive Chef Will Meyrick created Mama San to be a fun venue, where friends and family come to enjoy the food and each other’s company. Chef Will tempts guests with a street food inspired menu that originates across Asia, spanning Indonesia, China, India, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia and Malaysia. The right amount of spices and the robust flavors of the dishes reflect the high quality produce used and at the same time offer insight into the amazing amalgamation of flavors around Southeast Asia. Tour Thailand with some of the Thai fishcakes that are packed with bold taste,
or make a stop in Vietnam with its La Lot, a famous street dish of grilled minced pork belly in betel leaves and dipped in nuoc cham, or fish dipping sauce. Known as the street food chef, much of the inspiration for Mama San’s menu comes from Chef Will’s extensive travels. The globe-trotting chef is constantly exploring the culinary landscapes of Indonesia as well as abroad, taking ideas from the unique food culture of each place.
